🎶 Meet Our Music Director – Dr. Miao Liu (DMA Candidate)
✨ Music Director of Dolce Arts Studio & Seattle World Harmonies FoundationÂ
We are proud to introduce Miao Liu, a celebrated flutist, chamber musician, and dedicated music educator, as the Music Director of Dolce Arts Studio and the Seattle World Harmonies Foundation.
Dr. Liu (DMA Candidate, Arizona State University) brings a rare combination of artistic excellence, academic rigor, and visionary leadership to our musical community. As a winner of multiple national concerto competitions and a featured soloist with orchestras across the United States, she exemplifies the highest level of musical achievement. Her performances with the Olympia Symphony Orchestra, Seattle Philharmonic, and the Arizona Contemporary Music Ensemble have been widely acclaimed.
In her role as Music Director, Dr. Liu oversees the artistic planning and performance quality of all Dolce Arts Studio recitals. Her keen eye for repertoire curation, musician development, and chamber music coaching ensures that every event we present maintains the highest professional standards. She also leads our teacher development and performance coaching, inspiring both faculty and students to reach their full potential through thoughtful guidance and artistic mentorship.
Dr. Liu is equally committed to expanding the reach of music education through her leadership at Seattle World Harmonies Foundation. As part of our mission to empower young musicians, support music educators, and promote the voices of underrepresented composers, she plays a central role in shaping programs that reflect inclusivity, creativity, and technical excellence. Her efforts include curating repertoire that highlights BIPOC composers and designing educational initiatives that foster community and collaboration.
Last year, Dr. Liu served as a distinguished adjudicator for our international music competition. This year, she was officially appointed Music Director of the Foundation, where she continues to elevate our mission by championing diversity in performance and equity in music education.
Dr. Liu holds a Master of Music degree from the University of Washington and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology (with an education emphasis) from Fujian Normal University in China. She has taught extensively at Arizona State University, where she served as Teaching Assistant for the Flute Studio, offering classes in pedagogy, technique, and ensemble coaching to both undergraduate and graduate students.
Fluent in both English and Mandarin, Dr. Liu brings a global perspective and deep cultural sensitivity to her work. Whether performing, teaching, or programming, she inspires those around her with her passion, discipline, and dedication to artistic growth.
