Zhiting Zhang - Cellist

Zhiting Zhang is a highly accomplished cellist with a rich background in music education. She received her undergraduate degree in cello performance under the guidance of Professor Wang Xiangqian at Xi'an Conservatory of Music. Subsequently, she pursued her master's degree in cello performance at the Cleveland Institute of Music in the United States, under the tutelage of renowned cellist, Professor Richard Weiss. During her cello studies, she had the privilege of interacting with a series of distinguished music masters, including American cellist, singer, and composer Mike Block, Grammy Award winner David Ying, Berlin Philharmonic's principal cellist Ludwig Quandt, as well as New York Philharmonic's Chinese cellist virtuoso Yu Wei, among others.


In the realm of orchestral performances, she served as the principal cellist of the Xi'an Conservatory of Music Symphony Orchestra, actively participating in numerous concerts, including performances at Peking University and Beijing Zhongshan Music Hall, collaborations with faculty from the Musikhochschule Lübeck for a Brahms symphonic concert, and collaborations with the erhu for performances of "Qinqiang" and "Caihua."


Furthermore, she was a cellist performer with the Xi'an Symphony Orchestra, taking part in significant events such as the Dayan Pagoda Concert and personal invitation for the shooting of cultural promotional videos in Qujiang.


Currently, Zhiting Zhang holds the position of cellist in the Cleveland Institute of Music Symphony Orchestra and has been presenting multiple solo recitals, chamber music concerts, sonata concerts, and chamber music outreach concerts at various venues, including the Severance Hall. These opportunities have allowed her to share her musical talents with the audience.


Her musical achievements have garnered her various honors, notably including the Gold Award at the 2018 Osaka International Music Competition in the China division.
